Snorkeling at Goff's Caye, Sargeant's Caye, or Caye Caulke & the Belize Barrier Reef
As you choose where to snorkle while visiting Belize, take a look at where you'll be going. Swimming over the famous barrier reef should be a given, but you should be afforded other attractions as well. For example, snorkeling from Sargeant's Caye can also provide a chance to see the manatee research station!
Price: adults expect to pay $52- $60
Booking Advice: Cruise lines offer this for sale, however, you can usually approach a vendor once off the ship and they will sell you a similar excursion for less than what the cruise line is.
Belize SCUBA Diving
With the second largest barrier reef in the world so close by, we'd be amiss not to recommend this excursion. This is one of the most popular activities in Belize. For experienced, certified divers, doing some advance bargain hunting certainly won't hurt... We do suggest recertification classes, however, if it's been a while since your last SCUBA experience. Brushing up on those skills can make -or break- a fun time.
Price: average price ranges for adults $105- $160
Booking Advice: Cruise line SCUBA excursions have some advantage for first time divers. For example, third party SCUBA excursions are likely going to require PADI certification. Also, for the novice, your cruise SCUBA experience can and should be supervised by the cruise line's PADI certified staff.
Cave Tubing
Cave Tubing provides an excellent opportunity to explore the old limestone caves and the jungle eco-system, and learn about the significance of these caves to the Maya. This activity is not for everyone, however. Cruise lines will have some physical requirements required of participants and they will expect you to use the life jackets, helmets, and lights typically provided. Walking for about 30 minutes in the jungle is part of the deal!
Price: average price ranges for adults $100
Booking Advice: Because there have been some mishaps with tubing in the caves, Belize has undertaken stricter safety precautions. This might be, however, one of the best reasons to make sure this activity is supervised and approved by the cruise line!
Zip-lining/ Belize Jungle Canopy Tours
If you can imagine zipping along suspended over a lush jungle forest, transferring from platform to platform with your experienced guides, you'll find this exhilarating to say the least!
Price: Adults expect to pay $95
Booking Advice: There are age and weight requirements for zip-lining, and some walking will be involved.
Exploring Mayan sites such as the Xunatunich Mayan Ruins, and Altun Ha
Because these tours feature ancient ruins unique to the area, and because tours (such as Altun Ha) may also combine with city tours, and boat rides, we think you're getting a great deal for the money!
Price: Adults expect to pay $80 - $85
Booking Advice: This is one excursion worth researching with 3rd party providers in advance of your cruise. Also, even though there are security personnel at these sites, it is very important to travel in groups for safety's sake.
