Relatively good medical care is available throughout the French West Indies. However, you do need to take into consideration that not all doctors speak or understand English. Check with your insurance carrier to assure you have coverage out of country. Petty street crime, including purse snatching, occurs throughout the French West Indies. Visitors should take care whenever traveling to safeguard valuables. As a matter of personal safety, it is advisable that you travel in groups, or,go to places where there are large crowds of tourists when you are in Martinique.
